Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jan 26, 2022 11:43 pm We are building a house where the master bedroom has a walk-through wardrobe to en-suite. There is a cavity slider from the bedroom to the robe and another one from the robe to the en-suite. These two doors are supposed to be in line with one another, which is on the floor plan. When the frame had been put up we did a walk through with the builder and we pointed out that the doors didn’t appear to be in line; he measured and confirmed that they weren’t and said he would have it fixed. Now the house is almost finished and we have gone inside to take measurements to plan the fit out of the robe with the joiner (we are doing this part ourselves) and the doors haven’t been fixed. They are misaligned by 7cm. It’s quite noticeable and will be even more so once the joinery is in. What are my options here? Can I get the builder to move one of the doors in line with the other, even at this stage? There is a bit more work involved if it’s done now, but it should have been done during frame stage, and it’s not our fault that it wasn’t. Re: Internal door in wrong spot 2Jan 27, 2022 6:19 am the builders built my house 1m too close to the fence from where the plans showed, amongst other faults i had made provision for a future 6.5m garage, they built 5.5m from boundary called in the hia, they decided it was not a structural defect too bad, so sad i dont like your chances with such a minor issue i know how frustrating it is i will never use a building company again, owner build and make sure everything is right before trades get paid 6 4323 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 15822 I am saying that double brick has similar thermal performance due to thermal mass effect. It will be still very interesting to see the state of your framing after 10-15… 10 29740 |
