Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 May 01, 2021 6:55 pm Hi there, Thanks in advance. Just moved in to a new house and there is a very noticeable squeak on the 1st floor. The house is made of wooden frame. Floor is laminate board but the squeak is not from the laminate board but instead sounds like its coming from the joist. Is this something I should worry about (structurally) or rather not a critical issue but just more of an annoying factor (squeaky noise)? Thanks Re: squeaky floor joist 2May 01, 2021 7:02 pm volmix Hi there, Thanks in advance. Just moved in to a new house and there is a very noticeable squeak on the 1st floor. Also, I am in Qld, so cannot claim on builders warranty unless it is structural. I may still give the builder a call to see if he wants to come take a look. Thanks! Assuming you've modelled the TB8, TB10, TB12, TB2 & J1 joists/LVLs there, it appears as per drawing to me. There maybe should be an additional J1 between TB10 and T12 if… 3 31816 1 10131 Seconded; we just used these last weekend to build a small deck. They worked perfectly as we have bluestone in the area where we wanted to build so digging down was not… 8 9063 |
