I am in the early process of a custom build, and the builders stair-builder (is there a better name for this?) is questioning some of our "wants". We've stolen the Metricon Doulton 46 internal curved staircase as part of our overall design. I really love the openness of it and think it adds a little wow.
Anyway, the builder has come back with:
1. All steps on the stairs need to be the same dimensions. I've seen in the standards (NCC Part 3.9.1.3 – Staircase Construction) that:
- Each tread and riser must be of the same measurement within a single flight.
However, this feels like it's relating to the risers and goings of the steps, and not the width. Would love some clarification here, as that would make the Doulton plans out of standard. I've uploaded a portion of their plans that show the stairs at the ground and 1st level.

2. You can't have a curved balustrade on the landings. This just seems weird. Once again, would place the Doulton design out of spec.
Keen for thoughts and guidance on this
Cheers
