Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Apr 10, 2021 10:52 pm Hi everyone, we are in the process of building our new home... we are have just had the frames completed so i was eager to take a look. When arriving in site I noticed the fence was left open so i went and had a walk around. For the most part and according to our “ private inspection report “ everything was looking ok. I was shocked when I looked up and seen the roof truss being chocked up by some left over building material??? Its only in one section of the house by the bathroom but there are 4 sections on the top of the internal wall frame where it meets the roof trusses. Can anyone tell me what would be the reason this is like this and if it’s going to cause issues? Steel does not warp and flex like timber. If there are gaps filled like the those pictured some mistakes have been made with the dimensions, prefabrication, or slab levels. I suggest asking your builder and your inspector to check the dimensions and alignment of all trussess and walls against your plans before your next progress payment and before its covered up with gyprock. With such a gap other things will be out of alignment. Better fix it now than wait until practical completion to find out when its too late to realistically fix and you have paid 90%. I will call the inspector who did the frame inspection and start off there. It looks to me as the slab is lower in that part of the house although this was just going off it by eye .
