Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Oct 20, 2020 5:00 pm Hi guys , just want some suggestions in putting alluminium posts into concrete for 2 pannels and a swinging gate. What concrete is the best to use ? And because they have been powdercoated will that be okay to use quickset to put them in or the quickset will still react with the alluminium ? Re: Help needed , need to put alluminium post into concrete 2Oct 20, 2020 8:27 pm Are the posts also powdercoated on the inside? Having aluminium in contact with a caustic or alkaline material such as cement is not a good idea and I am pretty sure that Quikset warns against doing this. You would have to look at having a suitable base under the posts on top of the concrete or else enclose them in a more suitable product within the cement. You could also dip/line the bottom of the posts with a suitable material. Try using "aluminium cement concrete" as keywords for a H1 forum search or for a generalised Google search. 3in1 Supadiverta.
