Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Apr 13, 2024 1:40 pm When my house was built (over 7 years ago), the post brackets were done to allow for concrete porch, but they didn’t allow for the planned stone paving. I’m finally getting around to the paving. Question 1 - Is there a way to safely extend these brackets to keep my posts away from the paving with necessary clearance, and what should the finished clearance between top of the stone paving and the post be? In vic. Question 2 - there is 50mm clearance from the concrete to the bottom lip of the timber cladding. What does the clearance here need to be from top of stone and is there any other kind of detail that I should be requiring my landscapers install to protect the timber? I’m not currently sure what the cladding overlap is from top of the internal slab (which is higher than and separate to porch slab) to the bottom edge of the cladding and whether there is any tolerance to trim the cladding to provide clearance. Appreciate your advice.
