hey guys,
new to the forum, hoping to share many projects around the house,
my partner (Jaime - age 25) and I (blake age 28) have owned our house now for the best part of 2 years.
before we moved in we renovated the kitchen, removing the coffee coloured tiled splashback, the cream and brown speckled bench top, and budget cabinetry. Replacing it with custom built cabinetry, grey concrete look bench top, white subway tiles and adding some up to date built in appliances. We then tackled the dirty cream carpets. ripped out, layed new thick underlay and had our new neutral grey carpet layed in the three bedrooms. Painted the whole house inside and replaced all existing lighting with downlights and added two fans (one in main bedroom and one in living room.
Once we moved in, renos stopped for a little while, until we saved up enough to do some landscaping. We ran a path from the picket fence to the front door, dug up and layed a driveway, made some sleeper style steps to go up the hill to the road, did a massive lawn reno, plated some magnolia trees and gardenias, and the front was done. Until we had our first big down pour.
we live down from the street level and down hill from the top of the street. we got half the streets water run off which funnelled straight down the new path, to the front of the house and down the weep holes to our crawl space.
the crawl space was now 450mm under water. So I syphoned the water out and started to dig another path along the front of the house to join the door to the driveway. I put in some drainage (supplied by my work- stormtech, hit me up if you need anything) and hooked it up to our stormwater. the next big downpour, the water came gushing down the front path and ……… gone, disappeared. Saving my crawl space and everything I kept down there from swimming.
most recently we had a roof restoration, decking done out the front, and a laundry renovation.
the next project will be the bathroom. so time to save up and get cracking with that. photos of all renos will be below
