Finding this forum late last week is great - then I found the 'find new posts' link. Wow, so many posts every day from what seems like you guys know each others like best friends.
So I found the Introductions part and thought i'd post a bit about our place and plans.
My wife and I bought in September 2004 a Weatherboard California Bungalow in Thornbury. It was immediately liveable and had some scope for improvements. We've both been exceedingly busy with work and out of the house activities and things are starting to fall apart a little. Had ongoing sewege issues (blockages) and one of the dogs getting under the house recently and tearing up central heating ducting...
It's a 3 bedroom with bathroom, second toilet + laundry and suitable kitchen.
Things that need doing...
The yards are good - but could do with some serious work to bring it up to a really nice state.
Weatherboards are in poor condition on one side of the house near the central heating and HWS.
Colour scheme... where to begin - inside and out needs completely redoing.
Insulation - non-existant in the walls, minimal in the roof
Back half of the house is an addition to the original structure of the bungalow, I really want to tear it down a rebuild it to make use of the deep back yard of the house.
In short a great first home which we are paying off at a great rate of knots to hopefully build up some good equity to renovate it to make it worth living in, and hopefully make it a solid rental prospect as soon as we might want to move up and out.
