Browse Forums Introductions 1 Jun 19, 2016 8:50 am hello everyone my name is tony and my wife is mary. we currently live with her parents in their granny flat help them out with the mortgage and we pay $1,000 a month. im new in australia ive been here for about 16 months moved up here from the united states (chicago) i met my wife when she was on vacation their some years back and we stayed in touch and i landed in australia on christmas morning 2014 and we got married in november of 2015. we live in edensor park and we have been house hunting for almost a year and we decided why pay around $650-$750 for a older home when for the same price we can have a brand new one built and have a say in how it looks. my wifes dream areas where oran ark, gregory hills, and harrington grove. so when we heard oran park was having a double bonus for first time home buyers of matching the grant from NSW of $10k we knew this was a good time to get in. so we visited a few builders like eagle, masterton, eden brea, and firstyle and we really didnt see anything we liked in our budget of $750k so our last stop before going home was clarendon and we right away fell in love with the killara 26. the salesman had a piece of land in oran park 450 sq m but had another house packaged with it and after a few phone calls to his boss he approved the switch a few days later. and clarendon had a nice special going $10k to use on anything from upgrades or even if we just wanted to use it to drop $10k from the price of the house and 19 upgrades for only $5k which the guy threw in for free..so not a bad deal..we have our meeting with our lawyer tomorrow and tender date is july 1st..nice to be here and will be asking alot of questions since this is my and my wifes first time in the property market. building in oran park stage 21C killara 26 model with clarendon homes Re: tony N mary 2Mar 04, 2017 5:36 pm Hi Tony and Mary, I assume your house is well under way by now, if not completely finished. I hope the whole process hasn't been too stressful. I'd love to build a new house from scratch one day (though I would probably design it or make major changes to a builders design). However for financial reasons I have always bought older existing homes and done some renovating (in the areas I've looked at it has been much cheaper). I bought my current house (1950's weatherboard farmhouse on 12.5 acres for only $50,000 more than 10 acres of vacant land). Maybe one day I'll be allowed to subdivide it in half and build a new house on the other land and sell my current place. |
