My name is Layla. Hubby and I are in the process of building our 1st home. We will be building with avj.

I will be setting up a blog and would like to know how I can download/post pics on this website. I had some troubles yesterday when I wanted to post my floorplan. I tried in pdf/jpeg/bmp format and neither worked, lol.

Layla, to post pics you need to join an external hosting site like Photobucket, free to join, sometimes takes a bit of practice before you get the hang of using it but once you know how, it is a sinch - I think there is a thread somewhere talking you through it.

Thank you SOOOO much Helyn!!! I did it in less than 5 mins and have already been able to post a pic . Yay, now I can post all my plans, etc... and blog away.

I read your thread about carpet/tiles - you can actually go one better with posting so the picture is shown on your post, other readers do not have to click on it to see it.
When you have selected your picture, go to the IMG code, the bottom code in the list of 4 options, copy that and paste it into your post.
If you preview your post you will see the picture there.

We are the proud parents of two young boys. After renting for a number of years and living a fairly laidback lifestyle for years...we've decided to put some skin in the game and build our First Home.

The location of our home will be in the North West area of Sydney known as The Ponds, NSW 2769.

This is an excellent site for information and I hope to contribute where I can as we, like many of you go through the various stages of building a home.

I came across this site by accident, so I've been having a little sticky beak and decided to join the forum.
I'm in the residential building industry and have been for many years. I'm a specialist designer & estimator in the 'Traditional or Colonial' style of home. I'm involved in all aspects of the building from conceptual design, full end design, full building cost estimates and take-offs, through to material selection, specification writing and contract preparation & execution.
I have completed the building construction course but currently have no desire to obtain a builders' licence. But yes I do get out on site with my builder to pickup on the practical side.
I really enjoy doing what I'm doing and hopefully I may be of some help, or at least offer some advice where possible.
I look forward to being part of the team!!

My name is Shonelle, im 20 and building my first home all my my wee self!
Ok...spose it helps that i work in financial planning, I know my builder, my partner is an electrican and my family are plasterers and brickies!

Ive just signed my contracts to build 3x2 in Aubin Gardens, now in the process of final approval from the bank and working out everything for pre-start and the landscaping!

Im glad i stumbled accross the website! looking forward to getting some help from serious house nuts. And might meet my future neighbours!

Just thought i would introduce myself as i have already posted a few replies, mainly to do with Termite related questions.
I am 26, live on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW with my wife, also 26 and 2 children, aged 3 (boy) and 1 (girl).
We own and operate our small family home based business which we started from scratch 5 years ago.
I have been in the pest industry for 9 years, in which i have worked on all facets of pest control, both pre & post construction, residential and commercial, and all general pest control solutions using chemical, non-chemical and physical control solutions.
I am passionate about camping in our camping trailer, sustainable living, being as environmentally friendly as possible and spending quality time with our families.

If anyone has any questions at all in relation to termite control measures, general pest questions etc please do not hesitate to PM me or post a topic.

Forums are a wealth of information, and this forum has already helped me with info on building a new deck and fence.

My name is Janice and I am about to build up a house with my dear boyfriend/fiancée
It is our first real home together, except for the flat we where living before that actually belonged to his sister who let us use it because she was off working in another country.
Well it was nice, but it wasn't ours and now we are ready to take that big step forward to get our own house and our own loving place.
