Most welcoming. My name is Michael and live on the Mid North Coast of NSW. I have always been interested in drawing houses, since tech drawing back in school days (too many years ago now) and found myself in an industry that gives me great satisfaction. Drafting and design is still 'fun' and I am very fortunate to make a living in a field that I love. I look forward to contributing where I can. m.h. Re: Introductions Please! 223Jun 02, 2010 3:48 pm Hi Michael. Welcome. Homeone is a great place, we hope you enjoy being here. Yes you are very fortunate to able to enjoy the way you make a living. That's great. I was enrolled in Tafe to start Drafting when I was accepted into another industry and went with that instead. (no longer in that industry). Anyway I wish that I had been able to complete my drafting course because I would have loved to pursue that career path. I have to say though that I apporached quite a few drafting companies to ask if I could "observe" for a few hours just to make sure that it was truly what I wanted to do and nobody would allow me to do so. Very dissapointing. Maybe I could make a late start? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Introductions Please! 225Jun 02, 2010 4:41 pm WElcome Michael...and TM-is that a change of direction I'm hearing? We have just completed our plans and hope to commence building in July/August. We are building in the Lyndarum Estate in Epping and are building the Nelson 40 with Metricon, all good so far! Re: Introductions Please! 230Jun 27, 2010 10:45 am Hi all, I'm a carpenter and soon (fingers crossed!) to be builder in Melbournes inner west. I've been in my trade for just over 15 years, working on everything from small new homes to renos to award winning multi-levelled mansions. I found this forum accidently and loved it straight away. I'll try to help out with my knowledge and experience but I'm also gonna use the search function to 'steal' some stuff!! Haha... Be cool Jack of all trades... master of none Re: Introductions Please! 231Jun 29, 2010 11:02 am Hi all, I'm just in the process of finishing a little reno work on my current house on the west coast of Tassie and once sold will be purchasing a block somewhere a bit inland along the Nth coast and purchasing a 3 bed kit home to build on it with the help of a friend or two. I've been reading up on all your experiences, both the good and bad and am really looking forward to getting my hands dirty, the only tradesmen being used will be for electrical, plumbing and setting up the slab, the only thing I'm not looking forward to is dealing with the council as I've never had a good experience with one yet Re: Introductions Please! 233Jul 09, 2010 12:02 am Hi All, Fantastic Forum. I'm just about to commence building a new home and found this forum via google. Some great advice and look forward to being part of the forum community.. All the best.
