Hi All, I am so excited to have finally registered on HomeOne, and cant wait to share ideas and advice with you all !! I usually am redirected to a homeone post from google and have been meaning to register and be part of the community for some time now.
So, we are in north west Sydney and are currently sourcing quotes for a large landscaping job which includes paving, retaining walls, new fences and gates, new turf, plants, and a fair bit of excavation before anything. A fair bit of moulah involved!
We are a family of 4 ....me and hubby who is waaaaay too busy with work to involved in the nitty gritty on this project (i just need him to sgn the checks LOL)...we have 2 kiddies, aged 4 and 7 who are anxiously waiting for their backyard to be available to play in (has been off limits for about 10 months now)..see story below.
Our house is 23 years old and we have lived here for the past 6 years and finally got around to the landscaping about 10 months ago, signed up a charming and enthusiastic dude who turned out to be unlicenced, uninsured etc... milked us for heaps of money ($33k), did low quality and unapproved work and didn't finish much at all (because he ran out of our money !!!)
Anyway, we were hit for six and lost momentum on the project.... so I am back onto it now....BUT its just the busiest time of year and getting any of the good licenced landscapers on the phone is hard enough, let alone getting them to come out and measure up, then actually getting a return quote is just driving me nuts. I finally got 2 quotes after 5 weeks of running around, and one of the guys turns out to be trading under a family members licence number, and posing it as his own ... So needless to say, that one got scrapped. Now left with one quote from a great local licenced business, but nothing really to compare the quote to which is a little above my budget. Anyway....looking forward to sharing my journey on this one with those who are interested and who want to learn from the many mistakes I may make along the way..... and not to mention I am looking forward to sharing pics of the whole process. See you in the Outdoor forum !!!
