g'day, i only just discovered this forum so please allow myself to introduce myself
in order to cater for our future family of 2 adults and 4 kids, we're looking at selling our home to finance the purchase of land from a relative who is going to knock down, subdivide and develop - and so we will subsequently become neighbours. it's been a long project getting off the ground and we're still along way off getting anywhere!
the block is in the City of Stirling, WA, and is 15m by 58m and we're imagining that we'll get the front lot which will be about 11m by 38m, so we're looking at how we could squeeze a double storey on that lot, and have enough backyard for the kids. our relative wants to retain the backyard for gardening, so we're hoping to be able to squeeze a second smaller double storey house.
most recent track we're taking is to obtain off-the-shelf plans from a project builder, modify them to meet our needs/desires, and to see whether they would physically fit on the block (we've been told that custom designed houses would be more expensive, but I'm interested enough to have attempted sketching up some of my own plans using metropix.co.uk, which I have enjoyed. I will upload them, because I'd be interested in getting some feedback.)
budget for building our house is $300k, so we're not entirely sure whether we'll get anything like what we want... but it's a starting point.
anyway... HI
