Hi all
After reading a number of threads on this forum over the last year. I thought it was finally time to join.
I currently live in Bayswater W.A in a house i have spent the last four years renovating and now that it is almost finished it's time to start thinking about moving on to a bigger and newer place. I love the area the closeness to the river and the people in Bayswater so want to stay in the area but there is nothing nice and in my price range for sale currently so i am thinking of trying to find a block or old house to knock over and build. But i have a number of problems with this idea. Firstly what to biuld and were , small block is cheaper but double storey is more expensive so it evens out. Secondly i would hate to buy a nice big block and build a nice big family home only to end up having 12 villa's build next door as everbody else has decided to subdivide. And finally i work as a product designer so am very anal about design and i'm having trouble finding designs from project builders that i like. They all seem to do all the things i hate like second toilet in the laundry, laundry next to a bedroom and lots of hallways. I have found one design i and my wife (got to take her into consideration) like. It's the Princeston by Don Russell homes. The only problem is i would need to queek the design a little (bloody laundry at the back and next to two bedrooms ) and the price is a bit high $307,000 when compared to other builders but having said that the spec is very good.
Anyway i would be interested in people thoughts and if they have built with this builder i am wanting to build something that we will stay i for probably the next 10 year so it has to be right.
Oh i would also appreciated peoples thoughts on Ashfield it is the not the greatest suburb currently but is going though a massive redevelopement and is the cheapest river subsurb in W.A
thanks
Rob
