Browse Forums Introductions 1 Oct 30, 2012 6:47 pm Hi all, I'm Rick though the Grandkids call me by the handle I'm using. I live in an old Queenslander which was a bit of a wreck when we bought it 14 years ago. Between my partner and myself,I think we've done a fair job of making it look good, as well as structurally sound. I found this site today and thought it would be a good idea to keep track of what others do in similar situations. So I hope you fellows don't mind if I sit back a bit and suck the knowledge out of you guys. I started my working life sanding walls for my Uncle, moved from that to being an apprentice sparky, then joined the Navy and completed my trade training. After the Navy I became a computer, and Office equipment tech, and now am retired. So now I'm working harder, with less money..Oh well. Re: Hi from Bundaberg 2Oct 30, 2012 9:16 pm Welcome Rick I am also a bit of a stalker as I never found this site til we had nearly finished our second build so too late to change anything. When we moved in to our first place I said they will carry me out of here in a box, but less than five years later we headed south and built again. Lots of great ideas here, may give you the urge to do more renovations. I have no doubt I would build again if we had the $$$, the money wasted on rent during the second build used up all our spare cash. Hubby was a greenie for 23 years then worked in hospitality and now drives a fuel truck. His sister used to live in Bundaberg and one of his ex Chiefs retired there, it’s a small world.
