Here’s a bit on who, what, where stuff.
I’m passionate about sustainability, always have been, always will be, and I try to live without air-con and heating where possible and keep the energy usage to a minimum.
I'm in my 40's, always been interested in buildings, a practical thinker, love the outdoors, sailing and surfing winter and summer. I really understand water and heat loss/movement so that's always a key part of my houses.
Studied Electronics and IT in my youth (still in that industry) and also worked as an installer for a few months in my dad’s sound and thermal insulation business which he owned for 20 years.
I've lived overseas for several years and I've been known to climb into the odd ceiling just to see how they built and insulated the houses in their country which includes UK, Austria, USA, Sweden, Norway, Tibet, Nepal, and Indonesia. All of which have their unique bits that can be of interest to us. Such as the current Australian tradition for Balinese style bathrooms.
I’ve lived in many states in OZ including the extreme Tropics, semi-tropics and now a temperate zone (it'll get warmer soon
And I've owned and renovated several houses in each of these states.
So all up - I’ve experienced probably more than most and I've looked at a pretty broad range of climate, building and environmental needs.
I’m genuinely passionate about what I write and seek and I'm currently renovating a totally original - nothing done to it 70’s house to a more sustainable enjoyable place by re-using what I can and mixing in a bit of Feng Shui and some of my own “wonder how this will work” sustainable ideas.
Trust we can all be of mutual support with each others various projects - and have some fun while we help and learn from each other.
Cheers
