Hi
My apologies - I joined a while ago and have only just realised we are supposed to introduce ourselves.
We are building a house in the western suburbs of Adelaide. We bought our current box 12 years ago when our son was 6 month old. A little house that worked well for a couple and a small baby. Now we have 2 preteens and can not stand the small space!
We decided we could be in financial stress or emotional stress, so thought financial would be easier and opted to bulldoze and build.
We started looking 12 months ago, and signed our contract 6 months ago. Our current house is still standing but hopefully not much longer.
here is my blog - http://atlast-ourhouse.blogspot.com/. It needs some work but has our house plan on there.
The things I love the most about our house is our walk in pantry which has our sink and dishwasher in it. The layout of the kids vanity and the open study area. We are planning on using the garage as a rumpus/bar room so we have 4 separate living areas.
I had heard people talk about the negative aspects of building in the past and didn't understand it, however I am beginning to not enjoy the process. I love the fact that we are building but can't stand not being able to have exactly what I want in my house. Can't wait to start and finish.
Would love to thank so many of you who have given me so many ideas already, and so much more to think about.
