Hello everyone
I found this forum when Googling approximate times from start to finish of building a home. Never did find my answer LOL Ended up browsing through here and just registered.
My husband and I and our two children (plus one on the way) currently live in a remote private mining town here in WA. We moved here just over 5 years ago and one promise we made each other, was that when we left we would be moving into our own home and not a rental.
So we have a small holding deposit on a block of land up in Yanchep at Capricorn estate, it's not terribly big (just over 530) but it's big enough. We have found our house and that is with Aussie living homes and have put a holding deposit on that, we have made some mods to the original plans (our pantry is going to be bigger than the laundry! )
We just got a phone call yesterday morning to say we had a something approval. Now we need to get exact figures to the bank and hopefully we get the whole lot LOL Not too sure how it all works. All I know is that it has taken forever and it's starting to take the fun out of it.
We have a broker who is helping us. Apparently there has been a surge of FHB thus the wait.
My husband, ever the pessimist thinks that we won't get to the next stage and have full approval or whatever it is, I am hopeful though.
A friend of ours was trying to purchase an established house and got pre-approval, but he didn't get fully approved, as the mortgage insurer thought he was too high risk.
Hmmm, anyway. Apparently we have a two weeks to go now. So fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.
Oh and we haven't been to Perth in a long time. So only have seen the block from pictures and spoken to our rep and broker via phone and email. LOL
