Melbourne and new house building

Hi all
Another budding new house builder with many questions to come. Did a good bit of renovating and extending back in the UK but I realise its a good bit different here.
Will be building out the West side of Melbourne, land already chosen.
Still looking at house designs and layouts, been around the usual show houses but want something slightly different to suit us and our budget. Also interested in doing some of the work myself but not going down the full owner builder route.
I`m familiar with construction and design as its part of my job but still many questions about the way its done here....
