Hi!
I've been surfing this forum for quite awhile now and it is really becoming a good spot for ideas and advice. Well done to all those regular posters, it is appreciated by me and I'm sure many others that stop in for a sticky beak
I'm a bit in the minority here as I'm renovating a 40 year old house (my first home) and many others here seem to be building new. I have been working on my house for 2 years now so am starting to get the hang of it...
Hopefully I can contribute some useful input frommy experiences of pulling out walls, ripping up floors, building decks etc. and doing it all myself. I have made quite a few errors and hopefully can help others to avoid them! Have also learnt alot along the way so maybe I can help out those starting out.
Things I have done to my house so far:
Built a 4m x 8m deck with roof
Ripped out internal laundry and built new one outside
Turned old laundry into new ensuite
Ripped out original bathroom and refitted new one (in progress)
Repainted everything internally (external soon)
Ripped out old kitchen and refitted new one
Polished floorboards
Ripped out old asbestos boundary fence and built new timber one
Removed a couple of internal walls
And more I think...
Almost done now and am totally over living in a house being renovated..
Anyhoo... Love the forum!
