Browse Forums Feng Shui 1 Dec 12, 2019 11:47 am Dear Homeone community, I would like to have some Feng Shui advice on my desk orientation. To start off with, I have my bedroom set up as shown in picture 1, because it follows some basic Feng Shui rules: - the bed is not in the line of sight of a window and door; - the door can be seen from the bed; - no door or window is directly behind the desk; - the desk is in a power position because the door is in line of sight. However, for a half a year I've been using the desk less. I felt I was obstructed because I could not move the chair freely behind the desk. I came up with a new desk position, as shown in picture 2. My concern about the orientation in picture 2 is: - the desk is not anymore in a power position, because the desk is not facing the door; - the desk is in line of sight of a window and door; - I could jump from the desk straight to bed. But according to Feng Shui, the working space and bed should be clearly separated. (I am aware I should not have a desk in the bedroom) Although the desk and bed in picture 1 are close to each other, the spaces are divided into my head. This is because from one space I could not switch easily to the other, and vice versa. In picture 2, this is not the case anymore. Should I stick with orientation in picture 1 or try picture 2? Or is there another optimal solution? Any suggestions about the desk orientation or any Feng Shui tips are welcome. I thank you in advance for your time. Desk orientation in bedroom 2Dec 16, 2020 4:11 pm Hi Marcy, The desk is use for work often? or just for games? What do you mean by power position? Re: Feng Shui advice! Desk orientation in bedroom 3Dec 17, 2020 9:11 am 3 bucks boy Hi Marcy, The desk is use for work often? or just for games? What do you mean by power position? Hi there, The desk is mainly used for work (gaming is done in another room). Regarding power position, it's a terminology used in the Chinese practice of Feng Shui. This is what I found on the internet: "Your desk should be facing the door so that you can see the people coming in. This is known as the power position and it signifies that you are asserting yourself as the powerful creator of your own life". This description is a bit dramatic, but it does have a point. Have you noticed that directors/executive (especially in movies) have their desk placed in such a way that they have a wall/window/bookshelf behind them and that they are facing the door? This is considered to be good Feng Shui. Re: Feng Shui advice! Desk orientation in bedroom 4Dec 17, 2020 12:24 pm Hi Marcyboy, Thanks for reply. Now I understand what you mean about the power position. What you've said is more like Fengshui for office. As a boss or executive you face the door, just like you are monitoring your staffs and they will feel your Power/pressure and that means you will be able to get well control (Manage) of them. And yes, walls should be behind the desk but not Windows. That's why for the fist question I ask you, whether the desk is for work or fun. For work, it is best there is a wall right behind your seat. But if space is an issue. Then I will advise to stick with orientation 1 According to my knowledge, if your desk is placed at NorthEast spot of your room, will help you to uplift your concentration and creativity for year 2021. Wish you all the best! 0 655 Hi, My first post here. I got an plot of land that is at an angle to the road & facing South-East.
