(Please Ash, don't bother. ) Our house will have an alfresco that has sliding door access from three different rooms. We also have a sliding laundry door on the side of the house. Is this too many back doors? Also are sliding doors better or worse than bi folds or hinged doors? Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Yes you can have too many doors, but have a look at your plan. Do the doors create a tunnel of energy running from the front and straight out the back, or does it encourage the energy to flo through and around the house as is works it's way through. I'm no expert in this stuff - but it really about thinking what feels right. Are you creating a wind tunnel, or making the air move and flow around, by adding more doors. Steve Re: Too many doors? 3Jul 27, 2008 12:24 pm Yeah I agree with Steve, don't think you can have too many doors per se, but the location of the doors could be a worry, with so many you'd have to check what they are facing and how the chi will flow throughout the house in relation to the doors. Re: Too many doors? 4Jul 27, 2008 12:25 pm not sure too many doors will affect the feng shui or not, but my mum told me that you must not have the front door directly face the back door, because wealth comes from the front door, and goes via back door... so it means the wealth will come easy and go easy Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Too many doors? 5Jul 27, 2008 12:31 pm Yeah one of the alfresco doors will face the front door. About 20 metrs away but I know to put furniture, pics etc to slow down the energy and there are also doors in the hallway between the front and back doors. I just wasn't sure if you could actually have too many. Good to know it's not a problem. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Too many doors? 6Jul 27, 2008 1:26 pm I will also have the front door facing the alfresco, hallway kitchen family etc inbetween, but will use some squareset archways to break the flow and also add photos to hallway walls. Re: Too many doors? 7Aug 05, 2008 12:00 pm You are building a Grandview 36 from metricon? i have a look at the plan, i see no problem of the side laundry door. As for the alfresco, indeed, you have 3 sliders going into it. which is okay, but the entry door is a distance away from the rear alfresco and it is not directly facing the entry, does that gives you any relief? I once heard of a situation where a buyer of a house was advised by his feng shui master to relay the floor tiles diagonally as a solution to the entry that faces straight to the opening of the rear alfresco of the house.
I think one of the headache of having too many doors and accesses to the house is trying to remember to lock everyone of them at night! Re: Too many doors? 8Sep 24, 2008 11:02 pm joles I'm wondering if it's bad feng shui to have too many back doors? (Please Ash, don't bother. ) Our house will have an alfresco that has sliding door access from three different rooms. We also have a sliding laundry door on the side of the house. Is this too many back doors? nope, so long as the family members doesnt use the sliding door to enter house(from work/school). joles Also are sliding doors better or worse than bi folds or hinged doors? Jo doesnt matter Re: Too many doors? 10Sep 25, 2008 10:16 am claego you must not have the front door directly face the back door, because wealth comes from the front door, and goes via back door... so it means the wealth will come easy and go easy On the other hand you will get excellent flow-through ventilation when you need it. Although feng shui also says that u shouldnt sleep directly in front of a mirror because it interupts ur sleeping energy...my bed currently faces 4 wall to wall mirror doors....hehehe...and i sleep fine! hehe i think ur house is fine joles Re: Too many doors? 12Sep 25, 2008 11:48 am Helyn Quote: nope, so long as the family members doesnt use the sliding door to enter house ummm, not much point haveing an external door if you don't use it to enter the house what i mean is - when one leaves for work/return back to the house, only the main door is being used. once you are inside the house, it perfectly ok to use the side/back doors to move around. Re: Re: 14May 27, 2009 12:14 am 9finances claego because wealth comes from the front door, and goes via back door... so it means the wealth will come easy and go easy Isn't that the joy of building, I find it is bypassing the front door and just heading straight to the back 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Too many doors? 15May 27, 2009 12:22 am Apologies in advance for the hijack, I'll be doing the whole 'live with rellies while building' thing, and the place my children and I will be staying only has use of the back sliding door. (Front door doesnt have steps yet so owner simply doesn't use it) Given it's not my house, are there any feng shui cures I can implement to mitigate the effects of this 'sliding door only' access? TIA Re: Too many doors? 16May 27, 2009 7:48 am Depends how seriously you take this stuff Green Nooby - personally I wouldnt give it a second thought. Come to think of it , when we were children we always went in the back door (house only had one back door),front was one of those old fashioned doors that cant be shut without being locked, so did everyone, only strangers or formal visitors ever used the front door Dont think it caused us any bad luck Re: Too many doors? 17Jun 07, 2009 11:09 pm GreenNooby Apologies in advance for the hijack, I'll be doing the whole 'live with rellies while building' thing, and the place my children and I will be staying only has use of the back sliding door. TIA Hmm, that is a worry. This is known as the "green dragon curse". To counter that you need something which translates roughly as "scales of the goose". It involves making geese-like honking noises to drive away the dragon every year at the winter equinox - and that's coming up in a few weeks ! Lucky you ! Do the hard jobs first. TIA old but interesting post. in FS - there is such a thing as changing the facing of the house/door so that the house/door faces the postivie/prosperous direction.
