You window looks as though it has a sill flap which appears to be closely fitted. Whatever you do, do not cover the drainage holes in the sill. Ed Re: Which seal to use? 4Aug 10, 2020 3:05 pm Can you take photos in a higher definition so I can enlarge them. Right along the sill would be best. Show me on the pics what you are trying to cover. The window could have been set further forward to close the gap to the bricks - is this an option? To be honest, the windows don't suit the opening, and should have been measured to set them further forward particularly because this window has an offset reveal. Plus an inline reveal would have left no gap. Let me think and come back. There is render below the reveals which means the outer bricks are lower than the inner bricks thus the gaps. And older brick works weren't perfect either. Re: Which seal to use? 12Aug 13, 2020 11:49 am I know the problem. We install our replacement windows in lots of different building-in situations. This could have been done differently with a better result. The fix will be a compromise. Maybe an aluminium box section all round would look like it's a single product rather than a fix-up. Then caulk the section especially at the sill, but be careful not to cover the drain holes. Tel. 1800 326 326 I need to replace the worn mohair seal on my sliding window, but I can't get access to the end to slide the old one out & push the new one in. I could probably rip the old… 0 5199 4 14297 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17879 |
