Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 13, 2020 7:52 pm Hi all, we have upgraded to 2.7 ceilings and have made all bulkheads, doors, stackers and windows bigger to suit ( 2340 and 2.4 ) . There is an option to go up to 3m but do they make everything else like the doors and stackers to suit off the shelf ? Or would going to 3m ceilings leave me with doors and stackers that suit 2.7 ceilings? I believe the company is Bradnams that does the doors I said after the 1st build “ never again “ & now im on my 3rd Re: 3m ceilings volume builder Sydney 2Aug 06, 2020 11:44 am There's no such thing as doors and windows that suit a particular height, it's down to personal taste. I think I would look around the rooms you will live in and decide if the height to width ratio will enhance the look. Bradnams may not make 2700 high, or they may even need to add a transom (horizontal bar) to windows and destroy the look. We have standard doors at 2m and windows are 2.7m. The windows have a transom but look fine (depends on the look you are going for I guess). 2.7m door is definitely not a standard size. Re: 3m ceilings volume builder Sydney 4Aug 20, 2020 1:15 pm 2100, 2400 and 2700 are considered standard heights. But that does not mean that every product is available at those sizes. Engineering will likely mean additional cost for larger products. "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. This extra 300 cm doesn't really matter much for the looks (even worse, as transoms are ugly!) and practicality (how often you look into the top of the window?), but can add significant amounts to costs as well as thermal benefits. Alex I think the point of larger windows is to allow natural light in, not to look at the top of the window! Here’s our ‘Ugly’ transom window with 3.3m ceilings... Ideally I wanted a 4.8x3m single window but alas my budget did not. My point is while Alex says that transoms are ugly, everyone has different ideas, and what is ugly for one is a design feature for another..
