Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 08, 2011 10:26 pm Hi, We got new windows installed as part of our reno - the old ones were oxidized aluminium ones from the 70s... Anyway when our carpenter put in the new ones about 50% of the windows ended up with about a 0.5cm x 2cm scratch in the powder coating... looks like it was from the sliding handles bit. We live about 2km from the ocean... Should I be worried about these scratches??? Is it going to cause problems down the track?? Is there any way to fix it? Thanks for your help - look forward to hearing from you guys!! Reno in Southport - QLD. So much work to do and timeline has already been pushed back!!! Still To Do - security system, security screens, tree removal (cocus palms), internal works, lighting, ensuite. Generally, the coating in aerosol cans is not of the same quality as the original powder coating and will fade a lot sooner. This will make the repair look very obvious in a couple of years time. Windows are powdercoated, cars aren't, the spray packs are excellent for touching up powdercoat, and they last. IMO.
