Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Apr 24, 2020 10:04 pm I have got 2.4m high sliding door for 2.7m high ceiling. At first, a builder installed 2.1m one and I noticed the error at the framing stage and asked them to rectify. Then they installed the correct one but they removed brickwork on top. They said due to 2.4m high there was no room for 2 layers of brick. So finally I am getting a timber top on the sliding door and for me it looks funny. My concern is is it as per standard and can't they put 1.5 layers of bricks if there is no room for 2 layers? Below is the before and after pictures. If your door is not facing north, it is also worse from energy efficiency perspective. Re: Missing brickwork over sliding door 4Apr 25, 2020 11:18 am What does it show on your plans? Personally I would not be happy with the timber infill either. Re: Missing brickwork over sliding door 6Apr 27, 2020 5:29 pm It may be a lintel issue, there would be a lintel over the door at 2100, but maybe not enough space for a lintel at a brick course and brick. Check your plans. And as Alex79 said it's normal to have the door and windows align at the head... what was on your plans? I already checked many times, but nothing has been specified regarding brick courses. I would expect that other elevations will refer to bricks. Also check your plans as they should show brick veneer at the door. I think they are making it easy for themselves. Its not a big or difficult job and they can cut bricks as necessary to fit. Again, I had a similar issue with my front door which Metricon fixed after I pointed it out to them. The builder is BSing you about this to avoid the rectification work required due to their errors. Re: Missing brickwork over sliding door 15Apr 29, 2020 4:48 pm Bhaumik So that 45 angled double lines means brickwork? Does it mean I should get brickwork over the sliding door as per plan? yes "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Tel. 1800 326 326 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9863 Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11277 Yes, the builder is required to finish the wall. What else have you missed? 1 3367 |
