This is my first time on the forums and I'm a first time home owner.
My house is brick veneer, and I've noticed a number of gaps between the door/window frames and the brickwork.
I'm concerned about water and heat loss/transfer, and I've also noticed a number of flying ants coming into/out of the gaps and I want to fix the issue.
I've attached 2 images which show the type, location and size of the gaps I currently have:

I'm planning to purchase gap filler rods (https://www.bunnings.com.au/moroday-15m ... d_p4061877) and an external gap filler product (https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-430 ... r_p1230161 or https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-415 ... t_p1230973) to fill the spaces.
Before I do so, I wanted to ask for some advice:
- Should these gaps be here? Are they intended spaces (such as weep holes), or are they just a result of wear over time?
- Are the products I listed above suitable for this task, or is there a better approach?
Thanks for any help or advice
