Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jan 15, 2020 3:14 pm Hi folks, I have a newish house full of double glazed windows in western red cedar frames. I've found when the sun hits the windows, they fog up. It doesn't happen when sun is not hitting the windows. Happens in all seasons. I'm not getting water dripping, largely it is a hazy film that develops (so it looks awful as hard to see out the windows). It seems now there is almost a permanent haze on some of them on the inside / discolouration so the windows look dirty even when sparkling clean. I'm keen to hear if anyone has had this fixed? Windows replaced? I don't overly heat or cool the house, I'm thinking either I need to get screening for each window, or holes which defeats the whole purpose of having the double glazing in the first place. When you pay so much for a brand new home - its not a big ask to want to see out of clean windows! The windows are still under warranty... Thanks in advance for your suggestions / sharing your experiences Re: Condensation in double glazed windows when sun hits wind 2Jan 16, 2020 8:32 am Is the condensation inside the double glazed units? If so, there has been a break in the seal of the glass unit and your window supplier should replace this free of charge. If condensation is inside the home, it happens because there is moisture in the air - the only way to get rid of this is to ventilate. However, based on your statement of sun hitting the glass, its also possible that the haze you are referring to is not condensation but is actually the low-e coating of the glass. Could you please check with your supplier what type of glass you have in the make-up of the insulated glass units? It isn't low-e as far as I'm aware, and the units are meant to contain a dessicant although not sure if that would be obvious. it isn't all across the pane - just starts in one part of them and radiates out.
