Hi guys,
I'm going to install a sliding door into my laundry to separate from my kitchen (old door was a bi-fold that never really got out of the way properly and was a huge pain). My question is what type of door should I be getting?
The door height is 2020mm and the width that would work best is 720mm (750 at most) and I had assumed that I'd want a hollow door so it was easier to slide. my partner is keen on the Barn door style look but they all start at 850mm and seem to be solid construction.
I dont want it to feel cheap and dinky, but also dont want it to weigh a tonne and set off like a runaway train when you heave it open. Im not looking to install a grand feature style door, Its just meant to hide the ugliness of the laundry and block out the washer and dryer sounds a touch when in use.
To boil down my question: does the weight of the door (solid vs hollow) make much difference in how it operates when sliding, and are there any other considerations I should take (sliding mechanism/kit etc) from anyone with experience?
Appreciate it!
Alex
