I used to refute every piece of false information about windows, double glazing, low-E, SHGC etc in the forum. You will find an answer to almost everything somewhere in my posts.
I don't have time to scan the posts every day or even every week to continuously refute it. I do try to reply to PMs promptly.
Just to say the same old false ideas and information is circulating, please don't make a decision based upon this stuff, ask and I will reply or refer you... as unbiased as I can be.
Here are 2 examples...
- Always buy thermally broken aluminium in windows - an irrelevant piece of information because only the performance matters. In fact, if you have an energy report saying Thermally Broken, send it to me and I will tell you the truth.
- Low-E glass (on its own or in a double glazed unit) makes a better performer. The numbers are there, but Low-E only controls RADIANT heat, so its real value is in controlling solar heat gain. You will not feel a benefit in your pocket...
