Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Hole left open at windows bottom 3Mar 20, 2019 8:37 am Yes mine like that too on some windows, They cut the rubber lining too short sometimes etc. etc. Will definitely get my SS to fix it during PCI if they still haven't done it by then. Its a simple fix.. But in the building industry , it seems too hard for the contractor put in the effort to fix such little things. Brickie will blame the window installer and vice versa. Re: Hole left open at windows bottom 4Mar 20, 2019 9:20 am Looks to me like the sill flap, which is supposed to come forward over the brick sill, is folded underneath. A brickie issue which should be picked up by the supervisor. What did it say on my school reports... Our 6 months warranty inspection is due in May 2019....is it a good idea to raise the issue at the inspection? If you try to fix it they will say you have voided the warranty. Can I see a pic of the whole sill, is it the rubber extending 20mm along the sill? As a minimum, they should extend to the bricks at each end. Maybe they were stretched during cutting and assembly and they shrank in the sun... not your problem. The purpose of the sill flap is to drive water away from the brickwork to prevent it from coming inside the wall, where this is short of folded under, there is a real risk of water coming into the cavity. They may not be able to fix the short sill flap because it needs access under the window, and this is already bricked in. They can, however, caulk all the sills and this will do the job. All windows need a sill flap!!! Or be caulked... "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Also the holes at the corner will remain open or they need caulking as well? Caulking is a better solution than a sill flap if it is done properly... they don't do it because of cost implications, but in this case it is the only way. The holes should be caulked as well. Tel. 1800 326 326 Re: Hole left open at windows bottom 13Mar 20, 2019 11:21 am JoePathan Is there an Australian standard code which I can quote to the builder for missing sill flap and short sill flap? This is an easy one... all windows are type tested to meet AS2047... this covers water resistance and wind resistance. Your windows will have been tested this way, and as such should be supplied as tested. And also installed as supplied. These windows would not pass test as they are... they have to be fixed. Tel. 1800 326 326 you need a fridgie to answer but I would think you vac the whole system then add gas if you have a leak, unless it is new install with the gas already loaded, in that case… 1 3664 Old Home Restoration / Renovation Hi, just discovered all these junks left behind under the floor.
