Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 16, 2019 6:48 am I have 4 awning windows in my new build house measuring 1806 and 1809. The chain will only wind out 8cms which is not allowing any ventilation in. They are in a single story house. Both myself and my builder have contacted Bradnams and their reasoning is that the weight of the sash won't allow this. Could someone with knowledge on this give me some feedback. Thanks Re: Bradnams Awning windows restricted opennings. 2Mar 18, 2019 9:52 am The minimum opening restriction required is 125mm. I doubt that 1806 should be restricted at all. I don't know enough about their location to comment further on window restrictions. But I will say the reason given for these restrictions sound like Taurus Excreta. The awning windows are at the back of a lowset house and I totally agree that restricting them to 8cms is a load of @%$& because they may fall out if extended any further. I spoke to a window repair guy today and he agreed but I'm going to have to pay $$$ to fix the problem in brand new windows. Re: Bradnams Awning windows restricted opennings. 4Mar 22, 2019 11:52 am Are they 'Essential' or 'Signature' series windows? Also what is your glazing for these windows? 8cm sounds ridiculous for the max opening. One potential easy fix is to upgrade to twin winders? Though not sure how easy to do on existing windows?
