I saw them installed everywhere at my local hospital (and I can understand why they would be a great idea at the hospital with infection control) but has anyone used them at home? Are they worth it, or do they malfunction at times and would then be a huge hassle to fix? And I'm also thinking whether the blind itself affects the thermal efficiency of the window? A wide gap between panes in a double-glazed unit is better for sound isolation, but well past the optimum for thermal efficiency. I suggest the blinds requires a wider gap. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=17758 Re: Blinds between glass 3May 25, 2018 3:28 pm ben888 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I wonder if anyone has any experience with these double glazed windows with integral blinds, I think they're otherwise known as blinds between the glass. They use them in hospital also because they can be obscured and require a key to alter that. So the public cannot adjust them, only staff. They work fine generally, we have a sample which had done the tour in car boots etc. for years and still works. Thermally, there is a Canadian study which shows that they improve the thermal efficiency, given the same gap size. I believe they can operate in a gap of 17mm.
