Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Feb 13, 2018 12:08 pm I am trying to understand how spending 10-14k on putting Crimsafe (or equivalent) on my doors/stackers is going to be helpful in keeping someone out with many large glass windows in the house with virtually no security on them, except for being awnings. If the logic is cctv and alarm systems wont they protect the stackers as wells ? What am I missing here ? Please advise. We are looking into security doors for the stackers and external doors, simply because once you're in the house, it's easier to get gear out of the house through the back stackers\doors, instead of breaking large picture windows, especially if double glazed. But we will also be installing different locks ,as standard built, are more like privacy locks, not security. This is my thoughts... So what we are saying is, even if someone does crash a window and climb in, they can't really carry anything out if they cant open the stacker or doors. The inconvenience can be a deterrent, sort of. Agree 100% about the locks, good point about the CCTV and alarms as well. Re: Why Crimsafe the stackers, with large glass windows bare 4Feb 13, 2018 1:23 pm Here's a question back to you. Have you ever had your home broken into? Rear or side doors are what are accessed. Breaking a window makes a lot of noise and might just make your neighbours curious enough to have a look over the fence. Doors are accessed as majority of the time, it's to get in and out quick and climbing thru windows are just going to slow down the thief. Have a chat with your local police, to what is the best deterrent. At the end of the day, if someone wants into your house, nothing is going to stop them. Just make sure that you are not leaving tools out for them and that you have insurance. No break-in experience so far, we've gotten away with renting in suburbs we can't afford to buy in Very good points you made there. Door security it is. Also alarms with door/window and motion sensors. What's your take on CCTVs, and monitoring by security companies ? Monitoring by security companies is a personal preference and if you can afford the cost. CCTV and an alarm is a must for me, especially as there are so many products out there that can hook into your phone and you can respond from anywhere or even call the police yourself if you see that someone is breaking into your home. Good luck with your security decisions. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair to do it properly you need to dig out the garden and waterproof the outside of the wall.
