Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 15, 2017 2:52 pm We have been advised that we will need aluminum or steel fly screens for all openable windows for our new build as we have a BAL rating of 12.5. Most of our windows will be Tilt and Turn upvc with fly screens on the outside, however I really have my heart set on getting a casement window for the kitchen which opens outwards onto our deck area, with a bar on the outside (window can't open inwards due to the kitchen tap being in the way). However this doesn't seem as easy as it sounds when you're in a fire rating zone, even when the rating is as low as ours. Our glazier has told us we won't be able to have a retractable flyscreen, which I was really hoping to have but apparently they won't pass building inspection for our rating of 12.5 Does anyone know if this is true for all Retractable Fly Screens? Surely there are some out there that can be used in a BAL 12.5 areas. It seems like most building blocks outside of metropolitan areas are now rated BAL 12.5 in Victoria. So my question is, are there any fly screens out there that could be used for a casement window and pass building inspection? Hello everyone Please advice me how can I install mesh security window or we cab say mesh flyscreen inside while the pvc plantation shutters are already installed? Is… 0 11623 3 4188 |
