Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Gaps in window jam 7Aug 11, 2017 9:25 pm Hi Joker, Well for starters my initial estimate of 50mm was written a day or two after visiting the build and was actually way off. I went back acouple days later an measure it at around 18mm. So my bad. Only one of the windows in the build was affected and you can see where they have tried to stretch the brick veneer across to meet it as the mortar there is quite wide. They just didnt get there. The outcome was strip of black metal that matched the frame and hid the final gap. This was Pplied by the window company. A&L Windows. Now when I walk past I know its there but you wouldn't know if you weren't looking for it. Weve moved in and are otherwise happy with the build even if the painters Re coming back a fourth time to fix their questionable work. The builder is letting them go once they have. That's been the biggest let down for us moving in to what we though should feel brand new, not dodgied. Cheers. Hope that helps others. Screed is installed before or after, what was not up to code?
