Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Temporary Window Coverings 41Dec 03, 2008 10:31 pm This is probably a dumb question but do the redi-shades go up and down? And if so, is there a cord that I can't see in the pics of them? I really like the look of them but I can't work them out Re: Temporary Window Coverings 42Dec 04, 2008 5:08 am Nope, no cord - they come with a couple of small clips so that you can keep them open though. They just fold up and the clips hold them in place.
There are only 2 clips per blind, so if you cut them down to make two narrow ones, you might want some extra. I'm going to check Officeworks for some small bulldog clips. Re: Temporary Window Coverings 49Dec 08, 2008 11:38 am Does anyone know where to get them in Sydney?? I can't find a Bunnings that stocks them and no one answers the phone when I call Redi Shades directly in QLD. Thanks in advance! Re: Temporary Window Coverings 50Dec 08, 2008 11:50 am Thanks for the explaination kek, it all makes sense now! Re: Temporary Window Coverings 51Dec 08, 2008 3:44 pm Got a call back from the guys who look after Redi Shades here in OZ... lovely people by the way... they said that Bunnings Nationwide has taken on to stock these blinds permanently, well... lets just say NOT as a promotional item anymore. So all Bunnings stores should have stock, or will do soon. YAY! I'll have to go have a nosey.
Otherwise they can arrange to hook you up via post, as per recent blogs. Thanks guys! Re: Temporary Window Coverings 52Dec 08, 2008 8:04 pm Well I did the smart thing this afternoon and got on the phone to a few Bunningses before making the trip out to Mill Park, and lo and behold the one I tried last week that hadn't heard of them then, now has them!
So for all the westies - Bunnings Taylors Lakes (Watergardens) has them. Just picked up all mine today can't wait to put them up! Re: Temporary Window Coverings 53Dec 08, 2008 8:13 pm I visited Bunnings at Belrose this evening, on Sydney's North Shore, who I'd called earlier today and said they had none and guess what? They had a couple hundred of the things!!!
Obviously the guys I spoke to, who apparently worked in that department, didn't understand 'temporary paper blinds' or 'Redi Shades'... they were in the blinds aisle... right next to the venetians and the rollers!! Anyhow, we've put them up and they look fantastic! I can see how other people on this blog have had them up for a year or more, they look great! Thanks everyone! Re: Temporary Window Coverings 54Dec 09, 2008 10:10 pm Fantastic thread. Can you get the blackout ones as advertised on the redi shade website in Bunnings or is it just the light weight white/pale colours as I'm guessing these will not block out early sunlight? Re: Temporary Window Coverings 55Dec 10, 2008 5:23 am It's only the white ones that are available here - but they actually block a surprising amount of light and heat. If you want total blackout in bedrooms, you'd still have to hang a dark sheet or a blanket or something over the top.
It wouldn't look great from the inside, but at least from the outside, you'd only see the blinds.... Re: Temporary Window Coverings 56Dec 10, 2008 8:46 am Does anyone have a pic of the redi-shades from the outside of the house? And also from the outside with lights on inside (this is probably asking too much hehe)?
Great to hear that Bunnings will be stocking them permanently now! Re: Temporary Window Coverings 57Dec 10, 2008 9:34 am We put ours up on the weekend, we were surprised how much light they do block out (We get the afternoon sun in our main living, the room was getting quite hot, put them up and cooled it down!), they do look great inside and out!
l'll try and post a picture next time lm at someones house with full internet access (can't upload on the work server as its block and don't have internet at home!) But def recommend them, you cant even tell they are paper! Costed us $200 to do the whole house, we have LOTS of windows!! bargain! now we have time to save and to work out what we want to do for each room!! Re: Temporary Window Coverings 59Dec 10, 2008 10:05 am Thanks Woodsey and kek! You guys are stars!
kek that looks awesome, and they do a great job for privacy too. (love your facade!) Is it wrong that I want to go buy some and my house hasn't even started being built yet?
