Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 09, 2008 7:21 pm OK, so shutters are quite popular now BUT, can someone tell me please :
1. what type of shutter is the best to install : wood, aluminium or vinyl. 2. Is one material better than another & WHY, please ? 3. Do any of them warp in heat ?The windows would be facing north. So exposure to summer radiant heat would be a factor 4. Are they easy to keep clean & occasionally wipe down with water/cleaner ? Any suggestions or experiences to point me in any direction ? I don't feel that I will get a genuine answer from the suppliers or am I being cynical Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Internal Window Shutters - UPDATED questions - ANYONE ?? 2Aug 11, 2008 5:10 pm Ok so this from my parents having shutters but not me personally. If you are considering the wood yes it will warp after a couple of years.
Only a couple of slats seemed to be quite bad shape wise but moreso the fading was obvious. Again this was after a couple of years in direct sunlight. Where there was some shade they were still fine. The dust was noticeable on the cedar colour but not so much on the off white colour. She would use a duster once a week and wet cloth every fortnight. I didn't feel it was that obvious that it required a fortnightly clean. We all have a different level of clean though. As for the others I have no knowledge at all sorry. Good Luck For me personally the wood shutters do look beautiful and can we suffer for the beauty. We are also looking at Plantation Shutters. We went to a shop called Home Outlet and they have different types of it. Here is the link: http://homeoutlet.com.au/portal/plantat ... tters.html Of course, the Cedar is the most expensive one. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping!
