Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 03, 2016 11:22 am Building with Burbank and looking for some advice on our build and the poor quality products (windows) we have been supplied with. Just had our PCI inspection 15 months after signing the contract with them (the wait wouldn’t have been so bad if they had actually done a good job, unfortunately the work looks very very poor). At the PCI inspection we came to see that pretty much all the windows on our house look like they were nicked from a junkyard. Pretty much every single one is scratched on both the frames and glass, far from looking like a new house we thought we were getting from Burbank. Burbank seem to be good at skirting around the problems, and refusing to answer any questions on the actual fixes. At the PCI it was suggested by the SS that they will repair the windows rather than replacing them. We have told them numerous times since that this is not acceptable. We are buying a new house not a refurbished one. We have the re-PCI on Monday, but the problems have not been fixed at all yet. Any suggestions on where we can go from here, thanks. Some pictures of the windows below, more pictures can be seen here: http://buildingwithburbank.blogspot.com ... blems.html Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Burbank - huge quality problems - windows - Advice neede 2Mar 03, 2016 12:17 pm I would learn the tolerance laws so they dont talk crap to you and measure and record and get a building inspector like this forums BE, or they will eat you for dinner. I reckon everyone should get a list of all homes built by their builders in their areas or town to check out their real building qualitys, not a best possible handpicked trades job which most if not all wont get. Burbank - huge quality problems - windows - Advice needed 4Mar 04, 2016 2:10 pm We built with a different builder but had 4 windows scratched they tried to get out of it too by saying it was dirty but I wouldn't agree with them. We insisted they replaced them. They were replaced but it took them till after PCI & handover to replace the last 2. I wouldn't settle for them repairing them. As you said you're paying for a new house which means everything should be new & not faulty to be repaired. Hope it works out for you. Re: Burbank - huge quality problems - windows - Advice neede 5Mar 04, 2016 3:52 pm Unless I'm mistaken, I assume builders are still bound to comply with Consumer Guarantee regulations. Therefore, the supplied product must be: - fit for the purpose for which it is commonly supplied - safe, durable and free from defects - acceptable in appearance and finish. Those windows definitely fail the test of acceptable quality. Just went to have another look and loads more scratched frames were seen http://buildingwithburbank.blogspot.com ... tches.html Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Burbank - huge quality problems - windows - Advice neede 8Mar 08, 2016 2:23 pm write a product review on productreview.com, dont sign off on PCI, make a complaint to the head office. Theres a number of avenues still available, but those windows are not acceptable and dont be bullied into believing they are. If they quote standards and tolerance to you, ask them to show you. Take a copy with you and say "where? show me?", quite often theyre unable to, or thryvr taken a statement and twisted the wording to fit them. BUT, your best bet is a complaint to the head office, I found their district managers quite agreeable. Even got them to rip up a whole bunch of non compliant concreting , reroll entire walls of paint, redo tiling in portico etc. list was about 17 items big, and only one thing didnt get fixed, because it was able to be rectified by myself after being advised what the issue was, which didnt end up being a defect. good luck Creator of superduperonium, expert at expert things, nobel laureate, can hold my breath for 10 minutes. Whats the legality of this? are you allowed? Re: Burbank - huge quality problems - windows - Advice neede 10Jun 11, 2016 11:34 pm Stand your ground do not sign off on anything and ask them what their proposals are to fix To me the frames are beyond repair, I would not be accepting them I would insist on replacement, Hi All, Recently we have signed a contract with Burbank and we are not aware that they have just DORSET, SURREY, HAMPSHIRE, KENT, PILBARA and REDGUM bricks from PGH are… 0 3157 I am not a brick expert, but rendering would be 1 option, it would be costly to do the entire house though.... 2 6679 Hi all, has anyone been ask to do the weeds in their property while in the middle of build?
