My "builder" said nowadays, people just seal these windows with silicon (as in, take off the old sealing strip, replace with silicon instead) rather than replace the plastic/rubber sealing strip. Is this true? Never heard of anyone doing it to windows not designed for it, but silicone would be far superior to the glazing wedge in terms of strength and weather protection. But it is costly to have applied and very difficult to do well yourself. All commercial windows - and all ECoClassic aluminium windows - are silicon glazed.
