Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Powder Coated vs Anodised windows 21Feb 14, 2010 4:43 pm First Post. I am considering buying my first house and thinking about OB to save money. Thats what brough me here. I happen to work for a large national window company and found this topic intresting. While anodised is more profitable the sales reps always try to talk people out of using it. It cost far more but doesn't look all that different from Nat Matt. There can be colour variations in different batches. There is no way to repair scratches. There is no way to repair dents. (taping them out leaves white stress marks in the metal) When there are mistakes made during construction; or damage, theft etc.. and you need to replace a window. An anodised surcharge will apply again. And the surgarge can be a lot more than the actual cost of a single window or door. If your near the coast or on a beach you might consider PVC. PVC is huge in England as it provides a better seal in extreme weather and has been around for years. Cost is perhaps 3 times more than Ali at the moment (still new here) but you won't have to ever worry about salts or painting. Re: Powder Coated vs Anodised windows 22May 18, 2012 5:02 pm Just bumping this as we're thinking of buying clear anodised for our reno - we are having a window made into a door and need to choose a frame colour. The windows/doors in our house are currently raw aluminium (70s house). I think the clear anodised will match perfectly. We're not sure if we will ever replace the other windows. I also quite like the silver look (I couldn't decide between black or white powdercoating). I went to check out a door today at a nearby glass shop and they use the product 'Vantage'. The guy said there was no price difference between the clear anodised and powercoating which I was surprised by (after reading things on here). Otherwise, they look great. And will never need repainting ever! Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7007 There is evidence of water on the head reveals. That could have happened during the build, or may be happening currently. There are water stains above a couple of windows… 2 3832 |
