Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Dec 13, 2015 4:48 pm Hi, I'm looking for a place to buy/manufacturer solid internal doors at a reasonable price. Preferably in Melb/VIC. I don't want it custom made as it adds to the cost, but would like 2340 high and 720/820/920 widths. Most likely just flush panel doors but happy to look at other options. I'm not sure where the commercial builders source their doors from. Re: Where to source solid internal doors 3Dec 14, 2015 5:36 am Sloppy We used William Russell doors for our solid core doors. 3 sheets of mdf laminated together and a pattern routed out. They are heavy as hell Yup same here, doors are incredibly heavy especially if they are 2340 high. Wouldn't want to get your finger caught when they slam! Re: Where to source solid internal doors 4Dec 14, 2015 6:22 am Standard height solid core doors 2040 are available from Bunnings but if you need 2340 you can get them from William Russell(best range) but you can also try and call Hume Doors and Corinthian, I have had pick ups from both. You could also ring Tile Importers in Oakleigh, they can have some good discount prices on all building materials. It seems like William Russell is the place to start. Ironically, I have just purchased a Vic Ash entry door from them (well on eBay for $100) this week. William Russell is owned by the same company that owns Corinthian (and lots of other brands). MDF doors are fine for most of the house but I prefer not to use them in the bathroom due to moisture. What did you guys pay for them? I've purchased building material from the tile importer before and they are cheap, however stock is hit and miss at times. However I can't recall them selling tiles ironically! Re: Where to source solid internal doors 8Dec 16, 2015 4:41 am Yep 2340. I actually kept looking at the receipt and I think the sliders were 140 each as I had the swinging doors pre hinged so it looked neat and tidy so that added a few dollars to each door Re: Where to source solid internal doors 9Dec 22, 2015 1:47 am Sloppy Yep 2340. Did you order directly from William Russell or through a store? Re: Where to source solid internal doors 11Apr 01, 2016 9:48 am Sloppy Yep 2340. Im currently in search for x2 internal solid doors (one for theatre room and one for the door from inside garage to the house) 920x2340 to see what they are worth if I was to pick them up myself cheers Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3267 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15922 |
