Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Oct 24, 2015 12:09 pm HI Guys quick question - i have some windows here which are a wooden frame with fixed non opening panes of glass. The glass is held in place with small strips on the outside - my problem is when it rains heavily water comes inside - so the seal has failed. Ive removed the strips on one window and it seems that the original seal on the inside of the glass was never fitted correctly anyway but is certainly not effective at the moment. So my question is what is the best way to reseal the glass to the frame?? (without removing the glass ) thanks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Untitled by Adrian Miles Photography, on Flickr Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Untitled by Adrian Miles Photography, on Flickr Re: Sealing windows 3Oct 26, 2015 2:00 pm I have had the same problem. I resealed the inside with flexible sealant. On the outside, I removed the timber strips (glazing beads), and provided flexible sealant between the glass and the frame and then pushed the timber strips back into position, fixed with small galvanised brads and then sealed between the timber strips and the glass. My problem was several of the timber strips (glazing beads) broke as I removed them so I had to make more to match by cutting down new matching timber, (in my case western red cedar) using a table saw) Re: Sealing windows 4Oct 26, 2015 2:29 pm So do you mean silicon ?? I thought of that but don't want to glue the strips in place fitting them on wet silicon. Re: Sealing windows 5Oct 26, 2015 4:17 pm I did not use silicon, but used a paintable flexible gap filler. If you do not want the glazing beads to stick, wait until the sealant has gone off properly before reinstalling the glazing beads. Hi, planning on using the attached stone pieces in my bathroom.
