Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 19, 2015 9:07 am I am hoping to purchase the rest of the blinds required for my house. I have purchased a few custom made blinds online for the windows facing the street as I needed a particular look for those. My question is for the remaining bedrooms I wanted to have plain white dual roller blinds (blockout w/light filter). I went to my house (lock up stage, no plaster yet) and measured the windows and they have all measured very slightly wider than the window schedule on the plans. They all measure about 5-10mm wider (i.e. 1810mm or 1805mm rather than 1800mm as per the plans). Knowing this, how important is it to have the measurements exact for roller blinds, is that difference to much to be able to purchase ready made roller blinds? The main reason is the cost obviously. We are at the pointy end of the build now and I am trying to be as conservative as possible with purchases until we get the final bill, but I am anxious to have all the blinds ready to go as soon as we move in. Re: Window measurements and ready-made roller blinds 2Jul 19, 2015 9:16 am The more accurate the measurement the better the ordered product will fit. For width measure accurately at the top, in the centre and at the bottom of the window for either inside or outside fit. Take the shortest as your measurement as width. Diagonal measurements will give you how square the window is. Front of roller is used for the inside fitting roller and back of roller for outside fitting roller blind. That is what I have been told regarding measuring for roller blinds. Take the most brief as your estimation as width. Slanting estimations will give you how square the window is. Front of roller is utilized for within fitting roller and back of roller for outside fitting roller blind. That is the thing that I have been told with respect to measuring for roller blinds. I said very similar. Both of us are right. I have motorised roller blinds in my house. I motorised all the blinds I use a lot and the ones that don’t get used too often I didn’t.
