Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 May 10, 2015 9:30 pm hi all I just have a query here. I want to use my garage as extra space and wanna use it for small office type. I have small query here Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ if you could see in above pics 1 ) just want to reduce the distance between wall and (Operator + Mounting Hardware + belt and track ) normally it's hanged to ceiling through mounting hardware can we just remove that space. Looks like operator comes a bit further down so not looking good if you guys have any option please suggest me or suggest me any other door type which can help me to save some ceiling space....and so office looks bit big........ thanks Re: Garage Door 3May 11, 2015 9:17 am FWIW, my belt section and motor were mounted flush to the ceiling for my sectional door, but the tracks that the door runs in were still about 100mm lower than the ceiling. Roller doors still suck up a bit of space in the room, albeit closer in. For a small home office setup, have you considered removing the doors, tracks, and motor, and then putting in a set of normal windows and doors as they do with display homes ? I know it'll be expensive, but since you are concerned about how the tracks will look, I don't think there's any other way of stopping your office looking like a garage. Virtually an engine (with auto mechanism) that made the roller door go up and down. Re: Garage Door 5May 11, 2015 3:13 pm @bpratt--would it be possible to PM me photos of what you talking pls thx. @ SM - yes I do consider it rolling shutter as it's help in look but is that flywheel panel is indside your house ? or outside .... Re: Garage Door 6May 11, 2015 6:54 pm Just go to the nearest display home village... pretty much every house you go to , you enter what is the garage, but it is the sales office. Nice glass doors and windows. I'm sure if you later on wanted the garage back, you'd do the same as these display homes do, and pull the doors and windows out, and put the panel lift door back in. If I get around to it, I'll try and drop in to Yarrabilba and take some photos... most even have all the rails and belt drive in place. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. All inside - but you could box it to look nice. Have a look for people who install these devices. You often see them in the paper. Can be priced around $500. If you like - you could install a cover - ie a screen of sorts - along the door wall - to make it more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. As its a garage you might already have a door out and a window. Many people wouldn't even notice it was a garage - from the inside Perhaps entry from the street could be via a side path to the garage's access door. Or via the house. But - it could easily be returned to a garage when needed. Re: Garage Door 8Jun 05, 2015 7:35 pm Saint Mike When we first got an auto opener we had a roller door. Yeah that is for a roller door, but panel lift doors need the track and motor placed back in the garage because they don't fold on each other. Dover white or surfmist garage door.
