Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Dec 24, 2014 6:31 am I'm about to commence a build and would like to use the garage as an activity room and therefore want proper insulation and have it dust proof, etc. I understand we will have to meet council requirements for on site parking and am keen to hear how other people have tackled this? The builder suggested we install a panel door and post-handover put up a plaster board with insulation. The door won't be usable but will have the look from the street. Is there a solution that can make the door usable as well as provide good insulation/dust proof, etc? Re: Garage as activity room 2Dec 24, 2014 8:42 am You can get panel/sectional doors that come insulated, as I did for my garage door. The inside looks pretty much the same as the outside does, so that's the finish you'll get with it. As it will be used as a room, I would suggest getting some more insulation foam to go between the jamb and the top edge of the door, whichever door you get. My insulated sectional door only cost me $100 more than a normal sectional door, so it won't cost you much more, and to me it was a bit of a 'no-brainer' to go for the insulated version for my garage.
