Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Dec 07, 2014 10:40 pm Hi, I am an Owner builder and have had new aluminium sliding doors installed by the carpenter. Under the track at the bottom he has chocked it in 3 places with bits of scrap timber say 6mm thick off of the slab. My question is: What should go under the sliding door track for a permanent solution? Looks like the packers under the tracks are a temporary solution. Should I use the non-shrinkable structural grout? Please advise. Thanks Andrew Re: New Sliding Door Installation 2Dec 08, 2014 6:39 am How deep is it LM ? Could you fill with ply etc and then "grout" ? Re: New Sliding Door Installation 4Dec 14, 2014 5:21 pm 4200 long. That is a very heavy door. On my build I used plastic builders wedges to provide temporary support. I then installed strong mortar under the sliding doors (leaving the builders wedges in place). I then installed terracotta sill tiles (the edges tucked under the bottom sliding door track) across the width of the sliding door assembly removing the builders wedges as I went. Re: New Sliding Door Installation 5Dec 15, 2014 9:21 pm Hi Beetaloo, Thanks for the reply. I have used Structural grout (non shrinking structural cement) before with supporting floor beams. The only other thing I could use would be a SILKA product, I think its a polyurethane product typically used in brick expansion joints which looks like grey "Silicone" but much stronger and has the advantage of waterproofing the underside of the sliding door. I have to decide soon as the bricklayers are starting later this week, Andrew Re: New Sliding Door Installation 6Dec 17, 2014 11:19 am carmania Hi Beetaloo, Thanks for the reply.
