Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: My double glazed windows fro China 41May 06, 2016 1:55 pm What are peoples experience about getting spare parts for these windows and sliding doors that are manufactured overseas? Are they generic parts/seals/rubbers/rollers? I'm wondering how easy it would be to source a new set of door rollers or window seals in a few years time if they wear out. Re: My double glazed windows fro China 44Feb 21, 2017 9:12 am Don't have to go and find the products from China yourself. For my own house, we looked around in Sydney, there is a local company in Sydney now, they actually have their own factory in China, so better after sale services I think. I was a builder long time ago, compare with other products from China, I was shocked how amazing the quality is improved with that price. Re: My double glazed windows fro China 45Feb 21, 2017 9:37 am Joker What were the final cost savings once installation has been factored in, maybe, 25%. I was a builder, talking about the price in general, they sell at around $380-450 per square meter, mainly depending on the style you want. and + installation in Sydney area is around $110-120 per square meter. This is usually the cheapest way. If you live around Sydney or Mel, I can recommend you a company which I found two years ago, and you can pop in one of their warehouse. If you just find someone from yellow page, the price is around $800-1500 including installation (for Syd or Mel). Re: My double glazed windows fro China 46Mar 07, 2017 12:39 pm ECOECO To sell windows in Australia they must have passed a type test for AS2047 Ed Hi Ed and other experts in the Forum, I understand that AS2047 is needed to sell windows in Australia.. however what if I just need to import and install in my own house (not selling or anything of commercial nature).. can I get away by importing from a supplier that doesn't have AS2047? Can $300 a building inspector type guy can sign off my windows and issue a compliance certificate (or any other doc) which I can give to my building surveyor to get the occupancy certificate? FYI I'm building a new house with a registered builder and considering supplying imported windows to my builder to install. Regards, Mark Re: My double glazed windows fro China 47Mar 14, 2017 2:11 pm Hi Mark, The problem is guaranteeing that the window is tested to AS2047, and that the glass complies with AS1288, it's almost impossible without full traceability. I am certain many imported windows do not comply. Nobody can sign off on untested windows, not even a window expert, they will be signing to assume liability. There are Chinese suppliers who claim AS2047, but the only way to know if that is true is to contact the AWA. You have to be careful in particular with safety glass, it is stronger but it also breaks safely. To be honest, I doubt if you will save much if anything, and that is without any warranty.
