Browse Forums Windows & Doors My double glazed windows fro China 21Jan 21, 2015 9:41 pm What I can't understand is that if these windows are so cheap why aren't the big project builders using them? Let's be honest, who signs up with a project builder because they use A&L or Bradmans? They are the ones that buy the same window over and over so their pricing would be really sharp. Re: My double glazed windows fro China 22Jan 22, 2015 1:17 am If your windows are 30K usd I assume that that is landed, if it is not then shipping and clearence should be added. Then is should be converted to AUD which will be approx AUD37K ballpark. You would then have 10% duty and then GST on the entire amount. (not sure why it is 50% of the GST rate but wont question) Therefore in AUD terms your GST would be around 4K. Crazyk, not sure how they can be so cheap either. My windows are double thermal break, hidden hinges, tilt and turn, laminated 6.38 16mm 6.38 and I am paying double that. That is for all my windows and a number of them are quite large. It also includes a glass double glazed laundry door and a double glazed stacker with some sort of hydraulic lifting mech. I am happy with the price as they stand by the product that they will install and do all the logistics. The change over after credit from the builder was a little more than 10K for the upgrade. Why are big housing companies not doing it. Well some of the housing companies also own the windows company so they probably already have sharp prices. As far as ordering loads from China it may be the logistics and hassle factor that they are not prepared to deal with. From an efficiency perspective it is preferable to source local and shift the delivery headache to someone else. Just my thoughts..... Re: My double glazed windows fro China 25Jan 28, 2015 12:23 am Hi afelice001, I too ordered my windows from China - Feilong windows. They arrived in Perth last Thurs, cleared through customs on fri and got delivered to my door today. I had a total of 46 windows which includes bi-folds, stacker, sliding and awning windows. I also had crim safe flyscreens. I paid a total of US$24560 and had to pay AU$2585.00 GST and AU$1170 Duty when they arrived. Everything went really smooth and so far I am happy with the service. The windows will start being installed in a couple of weeks, so I can let you know how they turn out. Re: My double glazed windows fro China 27Jan 28, 2015 9:14 am jamesbp Hi Manger, Thanks for that, yes I will check with AWA on Monday, meanwhile I have asked YY to supply certificate of compliance for the windows. The windows even have the stickers showing they comply to AS2047 and I have checked their certificate with SAI Global. If anyone else had other experience please let me know. Cheers James Hi James You might also want to ask for Compliance/Testing/Simulations to ISO10077.2 2012 The litmus test is whether of not its euro approved? HTH Actually, the litmus test is whether they physically pass AS2047, whose standards exceed ISO in water penetration. BS and ISO tested windows don't comply. I agree, water penetration is a design issue or manufacturing fault, it is physically tested under ISO and AS, but the Australian Standard is much higher than ISO or BS. To sell windows in Australia they must have passed a type test for AS2047, as ours has, this test has to be carried out by an independent NATA laboratory, as ours has. This is not simulation, it's a physical test, under wind and rain pressure, negative and positive... Our standard window passed N4 - That is 300kph wind. But in Australia, we actually simulate U-value in a software from Berkeley, whereas other countries - including China actually physically test U-values as well... a much better idea. StructuralBIMGuy One size and style fits all is passse..HTH That is why Australia has it's own standards, because it has it's own climate. I haven't ordered my windows as of yet but the price is less than half of the Australian quote and they were thermally broken aluminum, double glazed, awnings, with toughened glass, no where near as comparable as the product I was quoted from china, I'm still a little apprehensive, due to quality, shipping and warranty. but I guess time will tell. Ed just wondering where timber windows come into this as the way they are glazed leaves a bit to the imagination , a few blobs of silicone and dry beaded , compare this to a uPvc window and I know which way I would go , How dose the timber window obtain AS2047 ?. Keen to know as will be building in hunter valley later on this year Re: My double glazed windows fro China 33Apr 10, 2015 2:00 am I made a casual enquiry with YY construction a few months back and have received several calls and emails from them since despite me telling them that I would send them a schedule when we have finalised the sizes. I received another email today which ended with "pls no ****** this time". I've told them where to stick their windows and will source another company! Re: My double glazed windows fro China 35Apr 19, 2015 12:35 am I have not installed them yet but they look good in my garage. Frames are very thick with a 5mm black plastic as a thermal break. The aluminum profile is very advanced. When I measured two diagonal for 2.1x2.4m sliding doors, I was impressed. They were exactly the same, perfect right angles. They don't have reveals, so a certain care should be taken when unloading large frames. Side and top/bottom frames are screwed together in the corners and large frames are not completely rigid as a result. Attaching reveals should solve this problem. Re: My double glazed windows fro China 36Apr 23, 2015 10:49 pm Hi +Rusty I haven't had any dealings with YY Construction but I am very happy with the windows that we had from Feilong in China. They were packaged very well indeed and none of them had any damage. The frames are of a high quality and the locks/hardware are very strong and sturdy. They have all been installed and fit perfectly - I am extremely happy with them and would definitely order from them again. Playing with fire how? they all know we talk on various forums, like this one and wouldn't want a bad reputation, yes they want to charge more than a regular importer, but I'm pretty confident that mark up would still be less than an aussie wants to make off the deal. Re: My double glazed windows fro China 40Dec 10, 2015 9:15 am sgw I am very happy with my windows from YY, I spent 2 days at the factory in Shanghai inspecting the process and the components used and Have retro fitted 40+ windows into a friends house in Perth.
