I'm getting ready to have my doors installed on my new build, and was wondering what door hardware to use on a pivot door.
I know pretty much all that I've seen have used a mortice lock, but I have been considering one of these instead :-

I also have another door on the front side of the house for HT room that I was going to put the same handles on, so they'll match each other, and of course it'll be easier to key-alike too (not saying that you can't get a locksmith to do the same afterwards).
I have wondered if a handle like this would look too odd on a pivot door or not. I'll still probably put the large stainless steel handles on it anyway.
Your opinions are very welcome.

We used the square lever version of that lock on our 1200mm pivot front door and I think it looks fine - will try to post up a photo when I can find one.
The long bar handle does look a little more balanced but the one that was offered to us from our builder had the key hole directly beneath it which would make it a little fiddly IMO because the keyhole would then also be quite low when you centre the door handle.

During our build we received this email from our builders:-
"It has come to our attention that we have specified the same door handle and roller bolt style latch to your front door as displayed at the Bayview display home in Hayward's Bay. We have found the roller bolt latch to be problematic as the door often opens during periods of wind because the latch isn’t strong enough and can’t be adjusted.
We would like to offer you a free of charge upgrade to the Gainsborough Omni Trilock front door handle. We have used this handle on our new display home at Oran Park and it has worked well. We look forward to your response to the above matter ASAP. Thanks."
Considering this I would definitely recommend you not use a mortice lock on your pivot door.

Thanks grumblebum, it's the sort of thing I was thinking about with the wind and roller latch they have.
At least this way I'll have the same door handles on both doors facing the front of the house.
mmmmmm..... Oran Park, used to love driving around there in the old days.
